February 3, 2014 – We are happy to share positive news regarding rumors that have been floating around for the last several weeks, rumors pertaining to Ethiopia potentially closing international adoption. We have received word that adoption agency representatives met with MOWCYA to discuss the future of international adoption. MOWCYA repeatedly confirmed it is not an Ethiopian Government stand to close international adoption, and there are no plans to do so. Both MOWCYA and the agency representatives have the common goal of continuing to improve the process and to focus on good practice. Adoption Associates fully supports MOWCYA’s efforts in improving the transparency and ethical processing of adoptions.
