What Adoption Planning IS:
It’s giving your baby the family environment you choose.
It’s letting your baby be loved and cared for by adoptive parents.
It’s making a life-giving choice for your baby.
It’s being cared for and supported by experienced, professional adoption counselors who are with you through every step of the process.
It’s getting support with the related challenges of life.
What Adoption Planning is NOT:
It’s not turning your baby over to protective services or sending the baby to foster care.
It’s not giving your baby away because you don’t care.
It’s not never seeing your baby again.
It’s not being forced to stay involved with your baby.
It’s not meant to make you forget your baby.
It’s not putting your baby at greater risk for psychological problems.
It’s not putting yourself at greater risk for emotional problems.
Planning an adoption means you DO care! You want something good for your baby when you’re not able to provide it yourself. As C.S. Lewis stated, “Love is unselfishly choosing for another’s highest good.”
