AAI’s Lansing Office

Kris Dickens, the Director in our Lansing office, joined the staff of AAI in 2006 as a home study caseworker. She has worked in additional roles over the years including international consultant and birth mother caseworker. Kris stepped into the role of Director of the Lansing office in May of 2019 and hit the ground running, sharing her knowledge and expertise on adoption.
Adoption Agency in Lansing Goes Out into the Community
Since May, Kris has conducted four in-service meetings on “Understanding Adoption“, and “Safe Delivery” to staff at hospitals, doctor’s offices and clinics. She often attends conferences as a representative for a local adoption agency in Lansing. Kris reaches out to schools in the area to present adoption information to students. Both teachers and students show an interest in the many aspects of adoption and appreciate Kris’ efforts to share her knowledge with them.
Tami Hedrick, the Lansing Office Manager, has been working at the adoption agency in Lansing since 1999. Tami handles a variety of tasks in the Lansing office and is our ‘go to’ person for questions about the online adoption portal. She is also the creative mind behind AAI’s Facebook page and posts regularly to spread the word about adoption events, and to share adoption process information.
Tami and Kris enjoy getting out to meet people in the Lansing area and hosted a table for Delta Community’s Halloween event earlier in October. The event drew many children and families who were able to learn more about adoption by stopping at their table to talk. Their efforts are making an impact to raise awareness in the communities surrounding the Lansing area.
Adoption Services
Kathy Yates is a home study caseworker in the Lansing office. She provides home study and client services to couples adopting through AAI’s Domestic Infant Adoption program. Kathy also has experience in international and foster care adoption. She has presented training for adoptive parents and professionals since 1995, with a specialty in cross cultural placements. *Kathy is one of the presenters at our Transracial Adoption Workshop on November 15 – there is still time to register!
