A Birthmother’s Reflection: Geanetta

Spread the Word

My decision to plan adoption for my baby was the most difficult decision of my life. Already having three children at home and unexpectedly becoming a single parent, I knew that I would not be able to support a fourth child. I had not only just lost my significant other, but I was also laid off from my job of five years. My job was my main source of income, and I had no unemployment benefits.
My pregnancy was a total surprise, and abortion would never be an option for me. I knew the birth father was not going to be there to help support myself or the baby. This all caused an extreme amount of stress for me.

My son was blessed with wonderful adoptive parents. I had requested that they be a stable two-parent Christian family and that is exactly what he received. He also has an older brother and sister to love and who definitely love him. I feel blessed beyond all measures. Although it was a difficult decision, it was one of the best choices I have ever made in my life. I am confident that my son will have a bright and loving future.
