Celebrating Birth Mothers
Spring is upon us, and with spring always comes new life, new families … and new beginnings. Here at Adoption Associates, Inc., we celebrate new beginnings every day as forever families are united through adoption. Yet spring also means that Mother’s Day is near. This Mother’s Day, we would especially like to recognize the mothers who make adoption possible: birth mothers.
Women who choose to place their child for adoption may not feel prepared to raise a baby in the way she knows he deserves, but we must recognize, nevertheless, that the choice of adoption is a courageous one. Many pregnant women who work with us are comforted by the idea of forming a positive relationship with the child’s future adoptive parents; yet it cannot be overlooked that just as the adoptive parents are beginning a happy journey, at the same time, the birth mother is grieving. While a birth mom may know that adoption is the best choice for her child, it is rarely an easy choice. We must remember that the choice of adoption is one that a birth mom must live with for the rest of her life. This month, we pay tribute to all of the brave women who have worked with us in the past, and we look forward to the women who will work with us in the future. To all of the birth mothers, we say “Thank you, and God bless you.” Here at Adoption Associates, we recognize they have performed the most incredible act of unconditional and selfless love. It’s love in it’s purest form.
In this May newsletter, read all about an adoptive family who – after four years and multiple fall-throughs – finally succeeded in their domestic adoption and today are happily raising a baby boy. While many readers may be inspired by the adoptive family’s faith, patience and love throughout their adoption experience, this story is also an ideal example of just how difficult the adoption choice is for many birth moms. Also this month, read about the new beginnings being created by Gift of Adoption, a nonprofit organization that offers grants to eligible families so that more orphaned children in the world can have a better future. Organizations like Gift of Adoption understand just how expensive it is to adopt – and they want to help! Read all about the new and improved tax credit; a program that offers free photography sessions for families recently formed though adoption; a program that offers free books to many children under age 5; and much more!
Happy spring — and happy Mother’s Day!
Blessings, Jane
Best Wishes,
