New Information on Tax Credit
We are pleased to share that the tax credit has been extended and improved! See the highlights:
- The Adoption Tax Credit, which was scheduled to expire in 2010, has been extended for one year (through December 31, 2011).
- The maximum credit is increased from $12,150 to $13,170.
- The Adoption Tax Credit is now refundable. If a family has no tax liability, the IRS will refund the amount due.
The credit makes adoption a viable option for many families who may otherwise be unable to afford adoption. We applaud the extension and improvements to the Adoption Tax Credit and continue to hope that it will be made a permanent credit. If you don’t qualify for a grant from GiftofAdoption.org, try applying for a loan from America’s Christian Credit Union. Since 1958, America’s Christian Credit Union has followed Scripture-based principles in its money management, and in 2009, it began offering adoption loans.
