Domestic Adoption

Now is a great time to apply to AAI's domestic infant adoption program

Since its inception in 1990, Adoption Associates has been placing domestic infants with their forever families, resulting in the placement of over 1,900 infants.

A Smaller Waiting List

If you’ve been considering domestic adoption, now is a better time than ever to take action! Adoption Associates successfully placed more than 70 domestic infants last year, and this year, waiting families have a wonderful chance of being chosen more quickly than in the past. Currently, there are only 40 to 50 families on AAI’s domestic waiting list, while in the past we have had over 100 families on the list. With fewer families on the list, a family’s profile has a greater chance of being shown more often to birth mothers and of being selected more quickly.

Increasing Your Chances of a Quicker Placement

Families can also increase their chances of being chosen more quickly by considering several other factors:

  • Currently, there is an urgent need for families open to an infant of full African-American heritage. Any family open to this option is encouraged to inquire to Adoption Associates.

  • Being open to unusual situations can also increase a family’s chances of being selected more quickly. Unusual situations could include more openness with the birth mother or birth family before and after placement; more openness to drug or alcohol use during the pregnancy; more openness to birth mothers or birth families with a history of mental illness; or openness to transracial adoption.
