National Adoption Awareness Month

November is National Adoption Awareness Month, a time for us to celebrate with the many orphans who have become sons and daughters through adoption and to remember the children left behind. While we have an additional opportunity to promote adoption during November, we continually work to increase adoption awareness year-round.

Affording Adoption

For most families, the cost of adoption is one of their primary concerns. However, through AAI’s Funds for Families Loan, a federal tax credit, and networking (if you’re adopting domestically), adoption becomes more affordable than you might think. Read on for more information about these ideas and to learn how Ben and Susie successfully used networking when adopting their twin daughters.

Domestic Adoption

John and Tammy were already the parents of five biological children when they felt called to adopt. They signed up for AAI’s African-American adoption program and soon received a phone call about an unusual case: a sibling group was available for adoption. Were they interested?

International Adoption

Jeff and Alesa were waiting to bring home their daughter from China when they learned of a little Asian girl who was available for adoption in Russia. Eager to become parents, the couple embarked on a unique journey that would lead them to adopt two daughters simultaneously through two different programs.
