Fundraising Update
Now is a great time to contribute to Embracing Ethiopia or Hosts of Hope thanks to two donors who have generously pledged matching gifts for these projects. The matching gift for Hosts of Hope is $2,000, while the gift for Embracing Ethiopia is $15,000, which means that any denomination that you give to either project up to the maximum dollar amount will be matched in full by the donor. What a great way to make your contribution go twice as far to support orphans in need.
To learn more about these fundraising projects and others, please visit the donation opportunities page or call Tom Gill, director of fund development, at 616.667.0677.
Hosts of Hope Update
Hosts of Hope will officially begin on Thursday, July 26 when six orphans from Russia’s Arkhangelsk region arrive in the West Michigan area. The children, who range in age from five and one half to seven years old, will stay with five different West Michigan families until Thursday, August 16. It is our hope that all of these children will make the connections during their stay that will lead to them being adopted.
Because the Hosts of Hope program would not be possible without the help of others, AAI would like to thank Karen Finck, an adoptive mother whose philanthropy group organized a fundraising event for Hosts of Hope at Prestwick Golf Club in Highland, MI on Friday, June 15, as well as Alison Spicer, another adoptive mother, who joined Karen in her effort to raise funds for this cause. We are pleased to announce that over $12,000 was raised for the Hosts of Hope program through this event, an amount that far exceeded our goal. Some of the contributions have already been used to purchase welcome baskets for the children.
