Mothers
Have you ever met a miracle worker? If you have a mother, you likely have.
In a child’s eyes, his or her mother is capable of performing many miracles. Her lullaby is the gentle tune that lulls the child to sleep, her hand is an impenetrable shield of safety when crossing the street, and her kiss is the magic cure for a scraped knee. Even her love, says Marion C. Garretty, “is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible.”
As we grow, the relationship we have with our mother is one of the most character-building experiences of our lives. Her words encourage us, her love inspires us, and her discipline helps us grow. As Abraham Lincoln said, “All that I am, or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother.”
This Mother’s Day, we celebrate with the many women who have become mothers through adoption, and we commend the birth mothers who have allowed them to take on this role. Perhaps no greater earthly love is known than that of a woman who, knowing her child needs more than she can provide, places him or her in the arms of another.
In this month’s newsletter, read about two mothers who chose adoption—one to build her family, and one to do what was best for her own. You’ll also learn about a family that organizes an annual yard sale to benefit adoptive parents, a donation opportunity, and all the new happenings at AAI.
Best wishes this Mother’s Day.
Best Wishes,
