A Beautiful Plan
I recently read an article in a magazine where the author made this statement: “I wondered who, if any, would go down the adoption route out of choice rather than necessity.” It made my stomach turn.
I am consistently surprised at the number of people who still have a negative misconception about adoption. Ephesians 1:5 says, “Long, long ago He decided to adopt us into His family through Jesus Christ. What pleasure He took in planning this!” Adoption isn’t some cruel act society invented to take care of a problem. Adoption is a pattern, set forth by God, by which He brings people into His family and saves them from an eternity of darkness.
I wish everyone in the world could have my job for one day to understand the true face of adoption—to see the loving, courageous birth mothers who sacrifice to do what is best for their child; the faces of parents when a baby is placed into their arms for the first time and they know that this child was meant for them from the very beginning; and the family who arrives at the airport with two children who would have otherwise had no hope. They are not only showing these children their love, but also showing them the love of Christ.
This month read about a family whose biological daughter’s special need led them to a child thousands of miles away on the other side of the world. Also read about a family who adopted two little girls, our thriving Russia program, and another way to help you afford your adoption.
Best Wishes,
