Nancy Cannon

Nancy Cannon

Director of Central Michigan Offices

Nancy joined AAI in 1994 as an intern and was hired on in 1995. She graduated from MSU with a bachelor’s degree in social work. Nancy is also a mom by adoption and has been active in the field in some capacity for 20 years. She lives with her husband Gordie in Grand Ledge and has an abundance of energy she shares with all who come her way. Nancy considers her three grown children her greatest work of all.

Says Nancy, “Watching an adoption plan come together is truly a wonderful experience. Seeing children have loving homes, adoptive couples become parents, and birth mothers allowed to follow their dreams has blessed me in so many ways. There is never a dull moment working in the adoption field.”

Birth Mother Caseworker

Jennifer, a caseworker for birth mothers and adoptive families, joined AAI in September of 2006. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Northwestern State University in Louisiana and has twelve years of social work experience with children and families. Prior to joining AAI, Jennifer was employed as a medical social worker and also as a child protective social worker in Alabama.

Born and raised in Louisiana, Jennifer recently relocated to Freeland, Michigan, where she lives with her husband. Her interests include gardening, cooking, and spending time with her dogs. Jennifer is grateful to be at Adoption Associates and is excited to connect children with loving families.

Joy Pluta

Joy Pluta

Case Aide

Joy began working for AAI in February of 2005 as a secretary/receptionist and became a case aide in October of 2006. A graduate of Central Michigan University, Joy holds a bachelor’s degree in family studies and a minor in psychology. But it wasn’t until she was dating her husband, Jeremy, who was adopted, that she was first drawn to adoption. Joy was able to support her husband in meeting his birth mother, and both Jeremy and Joy continue to have a strong relationship with her.

Jeremy and Joy live in Saginaw with their three year old son, Jeremy Jr. (“J.J.”). Joy feels that being a parent is truly a gift from God, a privilege, and an honor. For Joy, being able to participate in bringing together forever families is also a privilege and an honor.
